Emmerdale’s Rhona Goskirk discovers a connection to Pierce Harris’ ex-wife in a disturbing twist? | Television & Radio | Showbiz and television
Rhona (played by Zoe Henry) is set to take center stage in a new Emmerdale storyline as she is contacted by Pierce (Jonathan Wrather) from prison as he explains he is in dying and wants to get in touch with his estranged son, Marcus Dean (Darcy Grey). The beloved villager has gone to hell with the ITV soap villain and the last thing she wants to do is spend more time thinking about him than she needs to. However, it’s been revealed that the serial drama of the week will soon feature his mother, Mary Goskirk, played by stage and screen star Louise Jameson, so the vet will have plenty to do. In a rather shocking twist, could she find out that the newcomer is actually Pierce’s ex-wife?
Reports from The Mirror suggest the new character will ruffle some feathers in the village as she becomes a regular presence after reuniting with her daughter.
It will be clear that Rhona and Mary have a lot to do as they look to the future, but to do that they may have to go back to the past.
Going back to a few years ago, one could explain that the newcomer and Pierce got married for a short time and they conceived Marcus together.
When the child was very young, the villain reportedly left his ex-wife and a divorce followed as he met Tess Merton (Nicola Stephenson).
However, he would not have realized after his death that he would have met his first wife’s daughter, Rhona, who would ultimately be his downfall.

Mary and Pierce’s connection may not be obvious at first, but when she meets Marcus in the village while dating Rhona, it can all come to light.
As the idol refers to the newcomer as his mother, Rhona would be completely confused as she would think he was playing games.
But from the look on Mary’s face, it could be clear that she is the mother of the two and is in fact Pierce’s ex-wife.
The vet is said to be overwhelmed with emotion, thinking she will bond with the villain for the rest of her life after believing she has finally gotten rid of him after searching for his son.
Would she be able to forgive her mother for hiding the secret from her, or would this be the final straw in their relationship?
Producer Laura Shaw also opened up about Mary’s arrival, saying, “It’s great to have such a caliber and talented actor. [such as Louise] join our already strong team and she will be a fabulous addition to the show.
“Smart, witty and complex, Mary promises to be a force to be reckoned with in the village and for Rhona, there will never be a dull moment while her overbearing mother is around.”
An unnamed source also told the publication that there will be twists in the story as the shackles of Rhona’s past come together.
The insider said: “No nonsense, Mary has a strained relationship with her daughter who always thought she was never good enough for her mother.
“Even though Mary will be a hit with everyone she meets in the village, can she mend her broken relationship with Rhona?”
It hasn’t been revealed when Mary will arrive in the village but with the cast announced, it won’t be long before the drama unfolds.
If she is related to Pierce in any way, mother and daughter will have to sit down and talk about their marriage experience with him.
Rhona was able to find out that her mother had gone through a very similar ordeal to herself, and that Pierce was abusive towards her as well.
The vet could feel some sense of anger towards his mother as if she had known Pierce before, maybe she wouldn’t have suffered from his hands.
But with his death imminent, they could both bury the hatchet and promise to leave him in the past where he belongs.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other outlets earlier this year, executive producer Jane Hudson teased Mary’s arrival as someone from Rhona’s past who would raise her head.
The soap boss said: “There will also be someone else new in Rhona’s life, but I’m not telling you that one!
“Rhona is going to have two new characters in her life,” she explained, one of them being Marcus.
But could this also be a clue that they are brother and sister and that Rhona’s life will be changed forever by the revelation?
Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7 p.m. on ITV, with an additional episode airing Thursdays at 8 p.m.
