Siwertell road mobile unloader ordered for cement handling in Sweden
Bruks Siwertell has received an order from Swecem AB, a subsidiary of Peab Group’s Swerock, for a new generation Siwertell road vessel unloader. It will ensure environmentally friendly and dust-free material handling for cement producer and buyer Merit in the port of Helsingborg, Sweden.
“Environmental protection is a key consideration for Swecem’s operations and it adheres to very strict standards,” says Jörgen Ojeda, Sales Manager Mobile Unloaders, Bruks Siwertell. “With this in mind, Swecem was looking for a ship unloading solution capable of providing continuously high through-ship capacities, while ensuring closed handling of dry bulk materials to minimize any environmental impact.
“This is also an important order as it is part of a growing picture that will see all operators take more sustainable action,” Ojeda continues. “Sweden has a growing legislative effort to reduce the environmental impact of the country’s cement industry. However, the same industry must maintain or even exceed current ship unloading capacities to keep up with growth, posing a potential future gap between supply and demand. Our systems can and will be part of this positive change.
Siwertell mobile on-road unloaders allow totally enclosed handling from the ship’s hold to the receiving system, which minimizes dust emissions and completely eliminates spills. Additionally, they have a dust filter installed at the top of the loading conveyor, creating negative pressure to minimize fugitive dust at transfer points. The filter automatically returns the collected dust to the conveying system.
Mobile road systems also offer a high degree of flexibility and can move from port to port, requiring minimal infrastructure. They have a worldwide reputation for reliability and efficiency.
“That was certainly a factor in the order, along with good feedback from other Siwertell ship unloader owners,” notes Ojeda. “We could also offer a local presence, with offices nearby for any lifelong support service.”
Swecem’s new next-generation Siwertell 10,000 S on-road mobile unit will have a continuous cement unloading capacity of 300 tph and will be able to unload ships up to around 10,000 dwt. It will be delivered fully assembled to the operator’s import terminal in May 2022.
