The NY Times Creates Reader Portraits Across Headlines in Droga5 Ads

“This campaign is a natural extension of the work we’ve done previously,” said Amy Weisenbach, NYT senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “We strive to illustrate why readers should care about quality journalism and convince them to subscribe.”
Howell adds, “The goal of all of our brand marketing is the same: to increase the number of readers who think The journalism of The Times is worth paying for. [Here] we’ve found a unique way to show the independence and curiosity of our community, and how those values are reflected in what they read.”
The push comes as the NYT enjoys a surge in subscriptions, propelled in large part by its recent acquisition of sports news website The Athletic. After surpassing 10 million subscriptions, approximately 90% of which come from digital products, the company is committed to reaching 15 million over the next five years. (The Times also bought popular word game Wordle a few weeks ago, expanding its presence in the online entertainment sphere.)
